This course is for any professional in healthcare, education or research, wishing to expand their knowledge and understanding of sensate focus as a technique in sex therapy. While sex therapy is a fairly young profession, the need for those working in sexual health to offer comprehensive, evidence-based and informed care will never change.

Sensate focus is one of the most foundational, useful and important treatment tools in sex therapy. Originally developed to treat sexual dysfunctions, it can be used to enhance and improve sexual enjoyment as well. Deceptively simple, this tool is not to be underestimated in complexity.

This course offers you a comprehensive, deep dive into sensate focus. Upon completion, you should have a sound foundational knowledge of this psychosexual therapeutic technique, why it works and how to implement it with clients.

PLEASE NOTE: This course speaks frequently to heterosexual, cisgender couples. Sensate focus can be used with any couple dynamic, sexual identity or gender orientation. However it is the responsibility of the prescribing professional to adjust and tailor the program to their clients specific needs. Sensate focus is not always the first choice in treating sexual concerns, and one should be intentional in how and when it is used with clients’ concerns.
